Matriculation, Commencement, Alumni Weekends
- Recurring annual events related to Matriculation, Orientation, Senior Week, Commencement, and Alumni Reunion Weekends (May and June), will be given reservation priority during these periods.
- Catering service requests during these busy periods will be considered based on availability, and require 14 business days advance notice.
Holiday Closings
Tufts Catering is open for business for most university holidays during the academic year but will be closed during the following holidays:
- Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day After Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Eve
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (if it falls prior to the start of classes)
Recess Period Costs and Procedures
Due to the significant reduction in university activities during the winter and spring recesses, Tufts Catering is minimally staffed and has limited capability to order, prepare, and deliver food and services.
In order to offer services during this period, we operate under modified policies and procedures:
- Winter Recess: All requests for catered services to be held during winter recess must be booked by the first week of December.
- Spring Recess: All requests for catered services to be held during spring recess must be booked at least 14 business days prior to the start of recess.
- We do not have the ability to respond to late requests during recess periods.
- Because we seek to bring you only the freshest and highest quality foods, some menu items may not be available during recess periods due to vendor and kitchen limitations. We will work with you to design the best menu for your event.
- Please ask us about any changes or additional costs that may impact your function if it is scheduled during winter or spring recess. If you would prefer to utilize another caterer during these time periods to avoid additional costs, we would be glad to recommend other resources.
